ITRE committee elects its chair and vice-chairs

Borys Budka (EPP, Poland) was elected as Chair of the Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) committee on Tuesday.

 

The committee bureau (chair and up to four vice-chairs) is elected for a two and a half year mandate. During the tenth legislature, the ITRE committee will have 90 members.

 

Chair: Borys Budka (EPP, PL), elected by acclamation

 

1st Vice-Chair: Tsvetelina Penkova (S&D, BG), by acclamation

2nd Vice-Chair: Elena Donazzan (ECR, IT), elected by 47 votes to 24, with 17 abstentions

3rd Vice-Chair: Giorgio Gori (S&D, IT), elected with 66 votes - against 21 to Julie Rechagneux (PfE, FR)

4th Vice-Chair: Yvan Verougstraete (Renew, BE), by acclamation

Background

 

The constitutive meetings of the European Parliament's standing committees and subcommittees took place in Brussels on 23 July 2024, following the appointments of their members in the plenary sitting of 16-19 July. During the constitutive meetings, each committee and subcommittee elected its respective bureau, made up of a Chair and Vice-Chairs, for a two-and-a-half-year mandate. The newly set up committees will start holding their regular meetings this week.
