The first ordinary meeting of the committee after the summer break is planned for 4 September.

Following the election, ENVI Chair Antonio Decaro said: "In the wake of what has been done, we will continue to provide answers to the many daily emergencies related to the issues we address in the ENVI committee. But we must not lose sight of the extraordinary challenges we face. Not only the future of our continent is at stake, but also a new global approach to planetary resources. That is why we will work to fully achieve the Green Deal. We are facing an ambitious but not impossible challenge.

Just as we will be committed to the dossiers that affect food security and public health. Redefining the axes of a fair, healthy and environmentally friendly food system means triggering the virtuous process of change that can put Europe at the centre of a new relationship with health, production, trade and the fight against food waste and poverty.

The most ambitious commitment will be to combine environmental challenges with the development of new models of sustainable economic growth through a path for a just transition. As Chair, I will favour listening and dialogue. To continue the work we have started.”
