MEPs to discuss women's reproductive health and rights

On Tuesday morning, the Women’s Rights and Gender Equality Committee will hold a hearing with experts and civil society on women's reproductive health, including access to abortion.

 

With the International Safe Abortion Day coming up on 28 September, the committee is holding this hearing in response to a backlash against women's rights and gender equality in Europe and elsewhere.

 

When: Tuesday, 19 September, from 10.00 to 11.30.

 

Where: European Parliament in Brussels, Spinelli building, room 3G3

The hearing will be opened by Robert Biedroń (S&D, Poland), Chair of the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality. This will be followed by presentations from:

 

Birgit van Hout, Director, Representation Office in Brussels, UN Population Fund (UNFPA)

Jasenka Grujić, M.D., Ph.D., specialist in gynaecology and obstetrics

Dr Laia Sanchez - integrative gynaecologist, founder AlmabyWomen

Adriana Lamačková, Associate Director for National Legal Strategies, Europe, Center for Reproductive Rights.

Members will then have the chance to discuss the situation with the experts.
